I can not belive what I did today....it's a day I won't forget for a while! It all started last night around 7:30pm....a dog was barking in the front yard. Which is not unusual but it kept on barking....turns out there was a CAT on stairs and that is why the dog was barking. As the night went on, the dog was gone but the cat was still there.
We had a late dinner, still heard the meowing.....
Kids went to bed, still meowing....
This whole time the cat is at the front door, peeking in the window, trying to get in.
The girls kept asking if we could let it in, that it was probably cold...and they wanted to know if we could keep it.
After the kids were in bed, I got on the computer and watched TV around midnight and the stinking cat was still there. By the time I turned out the lights and went to bed, the cat was gone. Thank goodess.
UNTIL the next morning, at 7:30am when the girls woke up.....they ran into my room and said the CAT IS STILL HERE, MOM! It was there all night, they said. I thought holy crap, when is this cat going to leave?
We got ready for school, still there....when we left to take the girls to school, I took them out the side garage door. The cat just stared at us....from the top of the stairs.
When I got back home half an hour later...the cat was still there. Since it was now daylight, I could see there was for sure no collar. It's trash day, so I needed to get the cans to the street. I did open the garage door, must have scared it, cause it ran off.
If it wasn't 5 minutes later, the cat was back on the porch, meowing....almost like a CRY. I was thinking, holy crap.....I can't live like this.
SO I CALLED ANIMAL CONTROL.
They said they would send someone out....and of coarse when they did, the cat was GONE.
If I did not come in the house, pour myself a bowl of Frosted Flakes, the dam cat was back at the door meowing.....!!! So, I ate my cereal.....and headed to the garage to find a BOX to trap the bugger in. Within 1/2 hour from the animal control officer leaving.....I had captured a CAT.
Part of me felt proud of myself, the other part felt bad....
I am not a big cat lover, but I can't have a cat stalking my front porch, wondering if he or she will run in the house when I open the door.
OH, and what I forgot to tell you......the cat had a shrew dead at the bottom of the porch. (when I told that to Bill, he thought it might be gift from the cat) So to make it more comfortable, I made sure I put that in the box before I trapped him, just incase he wanted to eat it. I hope knowone was wathcing me do that....it was quite funny seeing myself tyring to get a cat in a box, and the cat escaping before I could get the lid closed. Stupid thing is, after several attempts to capture the cat.....he still kept coming to me for MORE ....when I called, Here, Kitty, Kitty!
I called animal control again....I informed then I contained the cat. They said they would contact the officer and send him back. This was at 11:20am
At around 12:30pm and still no officer, Bill called to wish me a HAPPY ANNIVERSARY!
I filled him in on the cat story....and he actually questioned why I didn't want to keep it. I must say I was surprised at the fact, that Bill might actually want a cat. Mmmm....after 10 years of marriage, I still learn new things about him.
So, now it's 1pm and I can't wait anymore I have to go get Sydney at school....I leave a note for the animal control and say I will be right back and the explain the cat is in the box....we get home at 1:30pm and there is a car in the driveway....it's a delivery van.
So waiting for me on the porch, is a dozen red roses and a box of Rum Chocolates.....and a CAT trapped in a box.....Happy Anniversary!!!
I bring in the flowers....talk to the kitty and see if it is still alive....we get a meow out of it....(Sydney thought that was the coolest thing....hearing it meow out of the box) close the door, and the animal control officer pulls up! He savely gets the cat out of the box, and in it's carrier and off they GO!
So, at 1:40pm.....there are no MEOWS, coming from this house!!
Now I have to deal with the dead shew in the box, the cat never ate it.... I wonder if Bill was right....a gift, that is so weird!

My BABY turns 5
WOW....I can't believe it, Sydney is 5. Where has the time gone? Sydney was born on October 3 which also happens to be the same date as when Bill and I had our first date. Can you belive Bill and I had our first date, 16 years ago? We are coming up on our 10 year wedding anniversary this month on the 19th.
GOOD TIMES!!!
Onto the party.... At Sydney's request, she wanted a bowling party! I must say, I was happy it wasn't another SAT @ Chuck E Cheese. Not that I don't like it there, cause I do....it's just the weekends are crazy!
The party started with an hour of bowling....I couln't believe how well Sydney did, check out this score. Not sure why it woudln't show the whole screen.
You'll have to click on the photo to make it larger, it's hard to see! Having the party at the bowling alley was good. I DID NOTHING... we had 3 teenage attendants doing all the work. In the package deal you got 10 guests plus the birthday child, 2 XLarge pizzas, 2 bottomless pitchers of soda, cupcakes, ice cream cups, pinata w/candy & a goody bag (wish I would have know that, I also made goodies bags) invitations and thank you cards (which I have yet to work on) all for the price of $199 Scary thing is, it sounds like a lot but by the time you buy food, plates, decorations, cake and whatever it gets up there. This party was worth it. 5 is a big milestone.
PINATA...I have to talk about this!! This was fun, Sydney got first crack at it, with an aluminum bat no less. Shockenly enough it took some beatings but didn't break right away. All kids got to go at least twice. Finally it broke, after some help....and all kids were told to keep their faces to the wall and WAIT until they said GO.
Next, the attendants spreaded out the candy on the crazy carpet and out went the lights and on went the BLACK LIGHTS....the candy was NOT visable to the eye....it was soo cool! The kids were told to GO...and they were a bit shocked to see it didn't look like any candy was there. After some digging around on there hands and knees.....they had LOTS of candy in their bags.
Sydney got some GREAT presents.... when we got back home it was like Christmas! Sydney had a GREAT birthday....Thanks everyone for coming and for being such great friends!
Now, I'd like to post a picture of the birthday gang, but for some reason it won't upload any more photos. I even started this a few days ago and saved it as a draft. Not sure what is going on! Mmmmm....

September Catch Up
I am not sure what my problem is....... I can be on this computer for hours, check everyone elses BLOG, but not update my own. I think the whole picture upload thing, getting them in the right spot is discouraging me. I just need to practice and soon it will be quick once I get the hang of it.
September 23rd....MOMS Club went Rock Climbing for MOMS Night Out.
Me, Mary, Wendy & Scottie were there, but I did not climb. It was fun watching them, and I was the photographer. Maybe after I loose some weight and build some upper body strengh, I might try it next time. But, for this event, I was Belay OFF!
September 30th.... Mary Kay Party
Our friend Rachael is a Mary Kay Rep and we (Scottie & I) wanted to have a party with her and for her to practice (and free stuff) I own the awesome product Satin Hands and they came out with a new scent..PEACH, I LOVE PEACH! Click on the highlight to see it on Rachael's website. After soaking our feet, doing our hands, trying the new facial wipes and tinted moisturizer it was a GREAT afternoon with friends....and Mr. Mikearita!
After everyone left, Scottie and I hopped in the hot tub. Kerry didn't have her suit and we didn't want to go in if she couldn't. It was very cold outside maybe high 30's. There was definate chill in the air when we got in. But, OMGosh, did the water feel EXCELLENT. I think it was 99. I remember one of the first things Scottie said was, I can't wait to see more snow on the mountains and see Northern Lights out here. If it wasn't 20 minutes later.....guess what we saw? YES, NORTHERN LIGHTS in Sept. they were so pretty! I look forward to more hot tub nights with Scottie, before we knew it, an hour went by. Then it was time for bed. I spent the night.
Bill had the girls, he took them camping. They had a great time. They went with Russ C and his 2 boys. Bill towed their Spamper (1980's camper, they pulled off the wheels and built it so you can put it on a trailer.) with the Suburban. First time it's ever towed anything. Bill bragged how well it did and informed me everytime he goes hunting now until he gets a new truck he is stealing my rig.
The girls are still talking about how much fun they had camping with Daddy....and how they each got to shoot their riffles that they got for Christmas last year.
I don't have pics of the camping trip....wish I did. Bill had the camera, but like a man he forgot to take any pictures. Sigh....

What a wonderful weekend.....it was so great to relax and be with friends, and get in some exercise.

This is Mary and Jan....our instructors for the weekend!

Michele is in the red and Melissa is on the bottom "down dog" and Mary is spotting.
This is Scottie in the pink and HOLY COW, what she is doing looks soooo easy, but man that is sooo hard. I need to build my upper body before I try that again. It's another way of doing a handstand. WOW!I will post more later, I am running out the door.....

Alaska State Fair
What would the summer be without going to the State Fair? The girls and I go every year at least twice. My highlight of every trip is to EAT....should you be surprised? I think my favorite thing this year was the cinnamon sugar pretzel at my favorite pretzel place on the purple trail.
This year we got to see baby chicks..... they were so little!
This sand sculpture was AMAZING.....these pictures were taken Sept 29th! And we went again with Bill on the 31st. We were very lucky and had good weather both days. The kids as always had a great time, but this was the first year the kids rode some different rides. Hailey did the dragon that goes back and forth, and both kids and myself rode the oriental dragon roller coaster. Holy Cow, that thing went fast, I was ready to get off when it was done. BUT, Hailey rode it again, by herself. I was surprised.

Testing Pictures

OK,
I thought I knew how to post picture but for some reason I am having trouble.
So, this post I will test it out.
Here is a cute picture next door to our house where we taught Sydney to ride her bike on 2 wheels.
UGH....it defaulted to the TOP of the Blog....Michele or Karen do you know how to fix this?
Let's try another pic.
It did it again.....don't I keep the cursor where I want the picture? Karen is coming over tomorrow for the first time so maybe she can help me!
It's also now double spacing.....I think this is the sign I should be working on the MOMS Club membership meeting mintues.

August 2006

August 2006
August turned out to be a RAINY month! I know it can be, but this month was crazy rainy. The kids got some major cabin fever. And well, so did I.
On the 14th, I attended Mary's Yogafit class. It felt really good. I was sore and sweatty but it was all worth it.
The 15th, we taught the girls how to ride their bikes, with no training wheels. It was a really HOT day too! Sydney took off like a champ.
Hailey on the other hand.....freaked out and cried she couldn't do it. After some time, she figured it out. Then the next day, wouldn't you know it.....it RAINED...and it rained for 13 days straight. Every moment they had to practice they were outside on the driveway....Sydney is so determined she was out there one day IN the rain. She is persistant!
We finally made it to the zoo this summer. I am mad at myself for not going more. I just wish it wasn't so far.
Our MOMS Club BBQ was cancelled due to rain and mudd. All the hot dogs and buns were frozen and we hope to plan maybe a Halloween party. That would be FUN! Something to dicuss at the board & membership meeting!
First day of school......YAH!!! Aug 22nd. Hailey was sooo excited. She was up at 1am & 2am wanting to get ready for her 1st day. Since she had so many school supplies, Sydney and I took her on the first day. And again, it was raining!!! Her teacher is Ms Jones. She seems very nice and well organized. I think this is going to be a great year!
The Alaska State Fair started the 24th....and this is the first year, school started before the fair. It's a bummer too, cause now we have to wait until after 3:30pm to go. I think we will go tomorrow (29th) after Hailey gets out of school... Let's hope the sun stays shining!
Sushi Party!!! Yah, Scottie's dad is visiting from CA and hosted a sushi party. The food was awesome and the company of good friends always makes it even better. I look forward to more gatherings as Scottie's dad bought a house here in AK. I am so excited for her.
Well, I should go....Sydney is in the shower by herself. She is feeling all grown up in there alone. I can only imagine, there is soap everywhere!
Until next time.....
